Ready for my closeup
We headed out as the sun rose near Lake Ndutu in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Here we were, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the African savannah.
We set out early that morning, our rugged safari vehicle bouncing over the rough terrain as we searched for wildlife. The roads in Tanzania are like washboards. You need a real commitment to get somewhere to travel on these roads! The air was crisp and cool, and the grassy plains stretched out as far as the eye could see. I felt a sense of peace and serenity, as if I were part of this ancient and unspoiled land.
As we drove on, we spotted a herd of zebras grazing in the distance. We watched as they moved together in perfect harmony, each one with his own unique pattern -- their fingerprints. No two alike. The Serengeti is a unique place where you can see thousands of zebras and wildebeests on their annual migration -- and of course, all of their predators and every other wild animal you can think of!
But our luck was about to get even better. As we rounded a bend, we saw something that took our breath away. There, just a few yards away, stood a group of giraffes. They were majestic and beautiful, their long necks reaching up towards the sky. I couldn't believe how close we were able to get to them. You can be right up on a giraffe and not see them, their camouflage is that good.
As we approached slowly, the giraffes looked back at us with curious eyes. They seemed unafraid and unbothered by our presence. It was as if they were inviting us to share in their peaceful and serene existence.
I felt a deep sense of connection to these creatures, as if we were communicating on a spiritual level. I felt privileged and honored to be able to witness such a magnificent sight. I was filled with a sense of gratitude and wonder that words cannot even begin to describe.
The giraffes were a reminder of the beauty and mystery of nature, and I knew that this moment would stay with me forever. It was a moment that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
