Another great piece of photography art from this seller. This is my second purchase and both are stunning. They came much quicker. I don't even have the room painted or I would show photos of the wall.DenisePurchased Lake Tahoe Snowy Nevada View
Patience, persistence, and timing
To create art, I start with a good photograph. That requires being in the right place at the right time (which can mean getting up long before dawn to capture the morning light, or standing in 2 feet of snow). It requires persistence. The light may not be right, or the sun is behind clouds, or the animals aren't there. So often, I return again and again until the conditions are just right. It requires patience. I've often stood with my eye to my camera lens waiting for an animal to peek out from where they're hiding, or take off and move, or look my way.
And all that is just to capture a photo. But the camera is just a tool. It can't "see" what my mind's eye sees. To bring out the art requires long hours at the computer getting the image just right.
And all of this took years of practice.

Have you fought to wake up early, hoping that something truly magical is waiting for you?
As a landscape photographer, my goal was to capture the beauty of Mono Lake at sunrise. Mono Lake is a unique place. It’s one of the oldest lakes in North America, over 760,000 years old. The water is salty, almost three times as salty as the ocean, and filled with tiny brine shrimp that draw birds from all around. But what makes Mono Lake truly special are its tufa towers—strange rock formations that rise from the lake’s shores like something from another world.
Tufa towers are made of limestone and form underwater when springs rich in calcium mix with the lake’s alkaline water. Over time, these formations build up, creating tall, spindly towers that look like stone castles rising out of the water. As the lake level has dropped, these towers have become exposed, standing tall along the shoreline like silent guardians of the past.
I set out in the early morning dark, fighting the urge to stay snuggled in my warm sleeping bag. But I knew I had to get up. Mono Lake was waiting, and I wanted to capture its magic. I packed my camera and tripod and started my hike.
The air was cold and still, and in the darkness, I almost missed the turn that led to the best spot by the lake. My heart raced as I hurried down the narrow path, the sky just starting to show hints of light. I needed to get there fast if I wanted to be ready for the perfect moment when the sun would rise and light up the tufa towers.
Finally, I reached the edge of the lake. The tufa towers stood tall and mysterious in the dim light, their rough surfaces catching the first glimmers of dawn. I quickly set up my tripod, my fingers stiff from the cold. The light was changing fast, casting long shadows and making the salt crystals on the towers sparkle like they were dusted with diamonds.
With my camera ready, I waited, holding my breath. Then, as the sun peeked over the mountains, the sky turned soft shades of pink and gold. The tufa towers glowed in the early light, their strange shapes reflected perfectly in the calm water. It was like stepping into a dream.
I pressed the shutter and captured the moment. The light was just right, the scene breathtaking. I stood there for a moment, taking it all in, feeling a deep sense of joy and accomplishment.
I had done it. I had captured the beauty of Mono Lake at sunrise, with its mysterious tufa towers standing tall. As I packed up and headed back down the trail, I felt a warm glow inside, knowing I could share this incredible sight with others. It was worth the cold and the early start. This is why I love being a photographer.
