Another great piece of photography art from this seller. This is my second purchase and both are stunning. They came much quicker. I don't even have the room painted or I would show photos of the wall.DenisePurchased Lake Tahoe Snowy Nevada View
Patience, persistence, and timing
To create art, I start with a good photograph. That requires being in the right place at the right time (which can mean getting up long before dawn to capture the morning light, or standing in 2 feet of snow). It requires persistence. The light may not be right, or the sun is behind clouds, or the animals aren't there. So often, I return again and again until the conditions are just right. It requires patience. I've often stood with my eye to my camera lens waiting for an animal to peek out from where they're hiding, or take off and move, or look my way.
And all that is just to capture a photo. But the camera is just a tool. It can't "see" what my mind's eye sees. To bring out the art requires long hours at the computer getting the image just right.
And all of this took years of practice.

Let me sit with you, Grandfather
I took 3 friends out to the Savuti River area in Botswana's Okavango Delta area.
Savuti is famous for its mysterious and fascinating channel. It runs a distance of 100 kilometers from the Chobe River, through a gap in the sand ridge, to the Mababe Depression. Falling only approximately 18 meters, this channel brings water from the Chobe to Mababe, creating a small marsh where it enters the Depression. Flowing in Livingstone's time, the channel was dry in 1880, and remained dry for about 70 years. It flooded again in 1957. Savuti Marsh has been dry for the past 18 years.
I had always wanted to visit this area.
We borrowed another friend's plan to get there from the capital city of Gaborone. The journey had been long, cramped and bumpy -- far longer than we had ever thought it could be -- with four of us crammed into the single-engine aircraft for hours on end. As we stepped out of the plane, the heat hit us like a wall, but we were all happy to have arrived safe and sound.
The next day we headed out in the safari vehicle, and made our way to a watering hole. I had never felt so alive. As we got closer, the lions came into focus. We had stumbled upon a very large pride, There were so many of them. Grandfathers and grandsons, fathers and mothers, and young lions feeling their oats. I couldn't believe my luck. something that was said to be a rare occurrence in the wild.
We could see three generations of lions ... proud grandfathers, sons and grandsons. It was an amazing experience to watch these youngsters play over, under and on top of their patriarch. Amazing to see the reverance and respect the sons had for their fathers.
In that moment, I felt a deep connection with my own ancestors. I could see the patience and wisdom in their eyes, the same qualities that I valued in myself. And yet, I also felt a sense of humility in the face of her raw, untamed power.
As they sat feeling the breeze, I couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. These lions were wild and free, living their lives on their own terms. But in our modern world, we were so far removed from this natural way of living. I felt a longing to return to that simpler, more connected existence.
We watched the lions for hours, until the sun began to set, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. As we made our way back to the lodge, I couldn't shake the feeling that this had been a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. One that I would never forget, and would always cherish.
This image will make a great addition to your office or home, your kid's room or play area.
